New Frontiers

After my most recent half- The Gusher in Beaumont, TX- 3/10/12

I've been an inconsistent blogger for over five years now.  In those five years, I have touched on just about every subject under the sun.  I've laid myself bare for the entire world to see if they wish.  I feel like the time for that kind of blogging has gone.  The older I get (not that old...35!) the more private I want my life to be.

That said, I've recently rediscovered my love of running and races and all that entails.  That is what this blog will be about.  I can't guarantee that I won't chase rabbits or go off on tangents.  But I can promise that I will spend the majority of my time  here writing about health and fitness, running and races.  You can be sure of that.

So I guess I should start with a little runner's bio...

I'm a single mom runner.  I am a turtle...slow is my game.  And I'm okay with that.  I still call myself a runner.  I run more than I walk, so I've decided that makes me a runner.    I've really had to slap myself in the face lately for comparing myself to others.  I only want to measure my progress against myself.  In spite of all that, I'm finding that I am way more competitive than I thought I was.  Not necessarily with others, but with myself.  I find that I want to try to best myself every time I run.

I'm also an interval runner.  I do run/walk intervals Galloway style.  Right now I'm settled into a 2 minute run/1 minute walk ratio.  It seems to work well for me.

I love to run races, especially those that give me medals. I've run/walked five half marathons.  I'm registered for my sixth on May 6th!
